CELLULOSE
ACETATE
(ZYLONITE OR "ZYL")

• Most common, frames cut from all colors, patterns, textures of sheet stock
• Softens over time, readjustment needed, too much heat can melt, bubble or burn the frame
• Can become dry or brittle with age, check before adjusting
• Acetone will dissolve the frame
• Heat to 120°C to adjust
• Easy to insert lenses and adjust
• Can stretch with heat or shrink with cooling (careful hidden hinge may loosen if heated too hot)

• Frames maintain their high luster
• There’s almost endless color, pattern and texture possibilities

• Can be laminated for great effects

• Works wonderfully for those big temples with logos and brand emblems

CELLULOSE
PROPIONATE
• Injection molded
• Lightweight, strong and flexible, color is added by an over-coating
• Excess heat bubbles the frame, beads will pock the surface
• NO acetone or alcohol
• This is one of the most comfortable and lightweight
materials
• Large sizes retain their stability, even as wrap frames
• Less sensitive to warm weather and will hold their
adjustment
GRILAMID  • Thermoplastic molded frame, clear and transparent
• Lightweight, 20% lighter than zyl
• Does not dry out
• Cold glazing for thin lenses, slight heat for high powers, <50°C
• This frame material is highly durable and resistant
to aging
• Flexible even in thin designs
• Hypoallergenic
• Created in a wide variety of color combinations 
HYTREL • Exceptionally tough and resilient
• Resistant to creep, impact and flex fatigue
• These frames are good in a wide range of temperatures maintaining flexibility and lens retention 
TROGAMID  • Highly resistant to chemicals and UV
• Excellent abrasion and scratch resistance
• Great under the most extreme conditions
• Maintains its good looks for the life of the eyewear

 ALUMINUM  • Light & strong (50% lighter than titanium)
• Little flexibility, if riveted hinges, adjusting often is difficult
• Spring hinges available
 • Even thick parts make the frame extremely light

ANODIZED ALUMINUM • Stronger, less scratch resistant than Aluminum
• Imbedded spring hinges
• This material creates a sleek look and is so lightweight
• Anodized with beautiful finishes and colors
BETA TITANIUM • Strong and lightweight alloy of titanium, vanadium, aluminum
• Nickel-free
• More flexible than pure Ti

MONEL • Most used frame metal
• Copper & nickel in a 2:1 ratio
• Strong solders and finishes
• Easily adjusted, re-shaped and corrosion resistant
• Some patients skin may react over time with some Monel finishes
• This frame is strong and easy for me to adjust for the perfect fit
• Millions of frames in this material are dispensed every year
• They stay stable and in shape for a long time.
STAINLESS STEEL • Nickel free
• Stainless
• Hypoallergenic
• Creates bright shiny frames or has a beautiful matte finish in silver, black, copper, gold colors
• Since they don’t lose their shapes, a snug temple fit is great for active wearers
TITANIUM
(90% TO 100% TITANIUM)
• Extremely lightweight yet durable
• Corrosion resistant
• Polishes well, electrolytic color finishes
• Casting adds design features
• Adjusts well but for rimless requires the right tools
• These frames are extremely lightweight yet wonderfully durable
• They can provide that minimalist look
