CELEBRITY CHEFS AND TRANSITIONS PROMOTE EYE HEALTH AND HEALTHY EATING
To kick off its 2013 Official Sponsor of Sightseeing (OSS) campaign, Transitions Optical sponsored the Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival presented by Food & Wine from Feb. 22 to 24 in Miami, Fla. During the weekend, more than 30,000 attendees had a chance to learn more about the importance of eye health and healthy eating habits through a series of events and activities sponsored by Transitions Optical, including special appearances by celebrity chefs Robert Irvine and Ana Quincoces.

“Through our activities at the food festival and our greater reach through social media and other special appearances throughout the year, we’ll be working in partnership with our celebrity chefs to promote the importance of healthy eating and taking care of your eyes—so you can keep enjoying your passions to their fullest throughout your life,” says Dan McLean, senior marketing manager, communications, Transitions Optical. “Connecting vision to your passions is a powerful way to ignite interest and enhance brand engagement, helping us drive more educated and motivated patients to their eyecare professionals.”

To help remind children and their families about the importance of proper eyecare and eyewear as part of an overall healthy lifestyle, Transitions Optical sponsored a tent, pictured here, within the “Fun and Fit as a Family” section at Jungle Island. Children who visited the Transitions adaptive lenses tent were encouraged to participate in the “My Eye Promise” program—pledging to take care of their eyes for the future.

To enhance the experience and promote the important role that a healthy diet plays in both eye and overall health, Transitions Optical brought in two celebrity chefs to share eye healthy tips and recipes with attendees. Hispanic chef Ana Quincoces, best-selling author of “Sabor! A Passion for Cuban Cuisine” and star of Bravo TV’s “The Real Housewives of Miami,” stopped by the tent on Saturday to discuss how her family maintains healthy lifestyles and provide tips on incorporating eye healthy ingredients into families’ meals. OSS ambassador Robert Irvine, best known for the Food Network show “Restaurant Impossible,” also attended the event on Sunday to share his own personal story about why vision is so important to him and how he considers healthy vision to be an important part of an overall, healthy lifestyle.
