GERMANY’S IVKO SIGNS WITH MAYBACH »
German eyewear manufacturer IVKO has signed a licensing agreement with Daimler AG, owner of Mercedes-Benz, for the design, manufacture and distribution of an exclusive luxury eyewear collection bearing the Maybach luxury car brand name. The line, which launches worldwide at the end of this month, will offer a ready-to-wear collection consisting of eight sunglasses and 10 ophthalmic frames made from wood, leather, natural horn, titanium, carbon fiber and 18-carat white, yellow and rose gold. The sun lenses are manufactured by Zeiss. In addition, there will be an “Individual” collection, offering customization.

CARTIER PREMIERS ACETATE OPTICAL COLLECTION » Cartier introduces Premiere Cartier, its first acetate ophthalmic collection. Included are three styles, rectangular, butterfly and pantos, all taking their inspiration from the 1960s. The temples are characterized by tubular piston hinges and three pins are featured on each side of the frame fronts. Frames are finished in ruthenium.

FUSION EYEWEAR TO DISTRIBUTE COCO SONG » Fusion Eyewear launches Coco Song in North America. A combination of Eastern elegance and Italian design, the initial collection consists of 35 ophthalmics styles for men and women in unusual combinations of acetate and acetate with silk, feathers, dry leaves and metal, including some with sterling silver and Swarovski crystal accents.

POLAROID AND REALD SIGN GLOBAL LICENSE
» Polaroid Eyewear, a division of Stylemark and RealD, a leading provider of 3D technology for cinema, consumer electronics and professional applications, have signed a global licensing agreement to use the RealD brand in conjunction with the launch of a new generation of curved 3D glasses, Polaroid Premium 3D Eyewear. The eyewear will be compatible with all RealD 3D enabled movie theatres, computer and game screens around the world.  Polaroid Eyewear’s launch collection will feature a range of designs, including premium 3D cover styles to fit over any prescription optical frame and also a junior style for younger consumers. The product is fully UV-protective.

EYEWEAR INVENTIONS FILES FOR INTERNATIONAL PATENT FOR CARABINEER TECHNOLOGY » Eyewear Inventions LLC has filed for an international patent for its Carabineer Clip sunglass, reading glass, ski goggle, safety glass and other carabineer products. The Carabineer concept, which has a U.S. patent, was created by Sam Shapiro, Eyewear Inventions president, and is centered around technology built into the temples so the product can be clipped anywhere for quick, convenient access.
