National Optronics founder David Beach, who is retiring after 29 years, thanks employees at a company picnic held in his honor.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.--National Optronics held a company picnic recently for David Beach, founder and chairman of the board, who retired in June. Employees paid tribute to Beach and recognized his achievements, dedication, service, and commitment to customers.

In honor of Beach, National Optronics has created 50 limited edition David Beach HLP edging systems. The edgers are the new National Optronics HLP edging system complete with Hi Luster Polish and NuGroove. The limited edition series will sport a new color scheme, and a limited edition badge numbered and signed by David Beach. In addition to these changes, there will be an extended warranty on all Limited Edition David Beach HLP Edging Systems, in recognition of Beach’s great commitment to service and customer loyalty.

In 1979, Beach was introduced to the technology of dry edging by an inventor who was looking for investors. Realizing the technology’s potential in the fast growing plastic lens arena, he purchased the patent for the R-7 dry edger and began production as National Optronics. Beach has played a significant role in the optical industry from the beginning of National Optronics and continuing through its purchase by Essilor International several years ago.

“David should be proud that he and his associates have built the benchmark for this segment of the optical industry. While we will miss David’s stewardship, we are confident that his spirit and philosophies will carry Optronics well into the future--a future we look forward to being a part of,” said Michael O’Connor of Davis Vision.

Doug Pech of Pech Optical commented, “One thing that really stands out in the years of being your customer is you and your staff have always been willing to listen to us and quite often made us feel that we where a part of your company. You have been a big part of our success and delivered great equipment and an open ear when we had issues.”
