FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif.--Oakley has announced that it has entered into an agreement with Major League Baseball Properties (MLBP) to be an official MLB Authentic Collection eyewear licensee.

As part of the agreement, Oakley will offer the Flak Jacket XLJ, a performance design popular with major league baseball players, to the public in collectible editions from 11 MLB clubs, according to a statement from Oakley. The partnership will run for three years from Jan 1, 2008.

“Oakley has spent decades achieving innovations that allow ballplayers to take performance to the next level, and we are honored to be chosen as makers of officially licensed MLB eyewear,” said Colin Baden, president of Oakley. “This is an opportunity to step up to the plate and show the fans of America’s greatest pastime how the uncompromising demands of pro players drive eyewear innovation toward new possibilities.”

MLBP was formed in 1966 by the Major League Baseball Clubs as their agent for marketing and trademark licensing and protection. This is the 10th Authentic Collection license agreed to by the company.

Oakley is a division of Luxottica Group (NYSE: LUX).
