Helping women discover their Peak Performance level is Martha Burgess at the OWA’s Professional Optical Women’s Workshop event.

LAS VEGAS--The Optical Women’s Association’s (OWA) first annual Professional Optical Women’s Workshop (P.O.W.W.) Wednesday night was a powerful experience for the more than 50 participants, attendees agreed. Professional actress and speaker Martha Burgess led the women on a journey of finding, tuning and keeping themselves in a state of peak performance.

Attendees learned that when an audience “zones out” on a speaker, it’s not that they are tired or need more coffee--it’s always the speaker’s fault.

Getting the audience to its feet, Burgess taught the “Click Exercise,” in which participants train their bodies to jump into the peak-performance state automatically and on demand. By being able to turn on this energy, a person can rise to the occasion no matter what is going on around him or her.

The OWA’s P.O.W.W. events will be held each year in conjunction with Vision Expo West, with new topics and speakers selected to give members and non-members business education and training.
