FOOTHILL RANCH,
Calif.-–Oakley, Inc. [NYSE:OO] has created 1242 Productions,
Inc., a film production company focused on promoting awareness of
its core board sports market and world-class athletes.
The new company’s first release "The Community Project" is a
snowboarding film that takes the viewer on an action-packed
adventure through many of the world's best snowboarding
locations.
"Our surf, skate and snow athletes continue to push the creative
and physical envelopes of their sports. 1242 Productions gives us
the ability to provide a unique visual platform to showcase these
athletes in their respective core sports," said Pat McIlvain,
Oakley Global sports marketing director.
"The Community Project, the first of expected three films, is a
group effort highlighting the lifestyle and diverse locations of
snowboarding. If the premiere held last month at our headquarters,
which drew more than 2,500 people, is any indication of interest, I
think we've nailed it."
The film features some of the world's top snowboarders
including:
Travis Rice, JJ Thomas, Zach Leach, Tyler Lepore, Terje Haakonsen,
Bryan Iguchi, Andy Finch, Kyle Clancy, Eero Ettala and Shaun White
on location in New Zealand, Japan, Jackson Hole, Alaska and
Whistler/Blackcomb among others. The film's major sponsors are
Oakley and Red Bull.
"The Community Project" is currently showing at select theatres and
colleges as well as being available for purchase at core, specialty
retailers nationwide. A world premiere tour is also currently
underway, more information on dates, details and to view clips, are
available at www.oakley.com/tcp and www.community-project.com.
