WILTON, Conn.—Following closely on the heels of the announcement that L’Amy America acquired the exclusive rights to utilize a photograph of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis wearing an original Nina Ricci sunglass style in 1978, the company has officially relaunched the NR3203 sunglass, modeled after the iconic frames worn in the image, and supporting merchandising material.

In keeping with the spirit of the original frame, the NR3203, originally created by Nina Ricci in the late 70’s, will be both designed and manufactured in France and crafted in handmade zyl. Ms.Onassis was photographed on January 30th, 1978 wearing this frame during the Robert F. Kennedy Pro Celebrity Tennis Tournament.

“Initial market response has been tremendous,” said Stephen Rappoport, president of L’Amy America. “Every major retailer is launching the NR3203 for spring—Ilori, Neiman Marcus, Sak’s, Barney’s, Nordstrom, Holt-Renfrew etcetera— and early feedback from optical partners is equally encouraging. The retailer is telling us that a key item like the Nina Ricci Jackie O. model, with such trend and romantic appeal, is providing their consumer a real reason to buy in this economic environment.”

In fact, Ilori will be featuring this model in store for the entire month of March.

The Nina Ricci Jackie O. model comes in six colors and to support the launch of the style L’Amy has designed a merchandising kit provided with every six piece opening order, in addition to a complete point-of-purchase support package.
