On March 1st, 2024 the Society of Connecticut Opticians (SOCO) hosted a successful advocacy event at the state capitol in Hartford, Connecticut. This event aimed to connect all opticians and students across the state with local lawmakers, fostering dialogue on the importance of state licensure for opticians.

During the event, attendees offered complimentary eyewear adjustments and cleanings to senators, representatives, and lobbyists. This provided a valuable opportunity for lawmakers to experience firsthand the expertise and dedication of Connecticut's opticians.

"It is crucial for legislators to understand the vital role opticians play in safeguarding the health, safety, and welfare of their constituents," emphasized SOCO President Donna Schaub. "The event provided a platform to educate them on the significance of state licensure in ensuring the highest standards of patient care."
