Shamir Driver Intelligence
Shamir Insight

Shamir Driver Intelligence transforms the driving experience into one that is safer, more comfortable and visually more clear.

Features: This new lens design enables sharp and clear vision with less glare in all lighting conditions—day, night and low light—and increases road awareness with exceptionally wide and clear visual fields, according to Shamir Insight. It accounts for changing light, eye fatigue and reaction time, leading to enhanced and superior performance on the road. Driver Intelligence development began with Shamir’s decision to address the unique set of visual challenges facing drivers everywhere such as sudden changes in road conditions, varying light intensities from the sun, streetlamps or oncoming headlights, constant altering technology with advanced interior digital displays and the persistent need to shift focus from the close vehicle interior due to the distant road.

Shamir Driver Intelligence comes as a set of two pairs of glasses, one for daylight and one for nighttime driving, to provide optimal vision for all conditions. The new lens for daylight use incorporates advanced materials that simulate color contrast and have object-recognition enhancement effects used in Formula 1 racing helmet visors, while its advanced anti-reflective coating reduces disturbing glare from the sun. The second lens design is for conditions of low light and nighttime driving, reducing visual noise and eye fatigue, and improving drivers’ reaction times for safer driver performance.

Lucyd Blueshift Lens
Innovative Eyewear

Innovative Eyewear, the developer of smart eyewear under the Lucyd, Nautica, Eddie Bauer and Reebok brands, has announced the launch of a new “transitional” blue light blocking lens designed to maximize the utility, eye protection and user satisfaction of Lucyd eyewear.

Features: The Lucyd Blueshift lens is an exclusive new lens upgrade offered with Lucyd eyewear, custom developed by the company. The lenses are photochromic and change to a black-tinted polarized sunglass in bright environments, while remaining clear indoors. The lenses will darken even without exposure to UV light, which is required to activate many other photo-sensitive lenses. This means they will darken behind a UV-blocking windshield and can be used for eye protection while driving. Darkening and lightening speeds are less than five minutes, Innovative Eyewear says. At the company’s in-house lens lab, each lens is treated with a special blue light blocking layer that does not disrupt the lenses’ ability to transition to a sunglass. This additional coating provides an average of 40 percent filtration of harmful blue light, according to independent testing from COLTS Labs, the company says. Unlike many other lenses offering this degree of blue light filtration, the lens does not have a significant yellow or amber tint and is fully clear indoors. The resulting product is an ideal lens for mixed indoor/outdoor, on-screen and off-screen use. The Blueshift lens is offered in standard 1.5 and high index 1.6, and is available in both non-Rx and prescription, including progressive lenses. Harrison Gross, CEO of Innovative Eyewear Inc., says, “Our dedicated team is always pushing to help our customers get the most out of the glasses they wear every day. The new Blueshift lens makes our eyewear suitable for use in almost any environment and at any light level.”
