eSight, a vision enhancement platform, is launching its latest innovation, eSight 4. eSight 4 builds upon the success of eSight 3, which was named one of Time Magazine’s Best Inventions. Since that time, thousands of users have joined eSight’s community living with visual acuities from 20/60 to 20/1400 (perfect vision is 20/20) caused by more than 20 different eye conditions including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and Stargardt’s disease. eSight’s wearable assistive device is clinically validated to significantly enhance vision for those who are living with eye disease and disorders that lead to low vision and legal blindness.
Features: eSight 4 provides even greater visual clarity, a more versatile hardware design to enable unprecedented mobility and all day use, and incorporates new advanced cloud-based capabilities and mobile apps.
Availability: eSight 4 is available for purchase through a growing number of optometrists, ophthalmologists and distributors specializing in low vision assistive technology.
Sensity Fast is one of the fastest light reactive lenses, rapidly changing from dark to clear, eliminating that awkward in-between period that most other lenses have. Patients will enjoy a seamless experience moving from outdoors to indoors, according to Hoya, which said it designed Sensity Fast in order to provide ECPs with differentiating new technology.
“The number one complaint people have about light reactive lenses is the time they take to fade back to clear,” says Eduardo Martins, president of Hoya Vision Care, North America. “We listened to what patients have been saying and developed technology to solve this problem and eliminate a barrier. It should now be much easier for ECPs to successfully offer light reactive lenses to their patients.”
He adds, “As practices are recovering from the lack of revenue over the last several months, differentiating new technology is a great way to re-engage patients. By offering a product with a technology advantage, they can command a higher price and maximize vision plan reimbursements.”
Features: Hoya said Sensity Fast has a 47 percent faster fadeback from dark to clear than the leading competitor and 77 percent faster fadeback than original Sensity. The lenses are clearer indoors and more than 1.6 times clearer than the leading competitor after one minute of fadeback and more than 2.5 times clearer than original Sensity after one minute of fadeback.
ECPs with questions about Sensity Fast can talk to their local Hoya territory sales consultant or visit www.ecpally.com.
Coburn Technologies is releasing the newest edition of its Velocity coating platform—the Velocity LTE Spin Coating System—a space saving semi-automated spin coater that builds on the award-winning Velocity coating platform and provides the control and ease of use needed by small to mid-sized labs. Velocity LTE offers the same reliable coating technology of the flagship Velocity platform at a lower price and in a smaller footprint.
“Velocity LTE’s unique system operates in a recipe-driven environment allowing the lab to optimize the coating process for different lens parameters,” explains Coburn Technologies president Alex Incera. “For example, it offers the flexibility to create custom cure profiles to eliminate warpage on higher index materials or to adjust spin speeds and times to optimize film thickness. All of this can be process-driven directly from the user interface.”
Features: The Velocity LTE features an individual control board for each of its three spindles. Each spindle circulates automatically through three stations: wash, coat and UV-cure. Spindle speed can be adjusted conveniently through the machine’s operator screen, offering more control of the coating process. This semi-automated system can process 80 lenses per hour with easy manual loading and unloading. This smaller footprint Velocity also features an auto-priming function and the elimination of overspray.
