TRANSITIONS XTRACTIVE NEW GENERATION
Transitions Optical

Transitions Optical unveiled Transitions XTRActive new generation lenses, the latest innovation from Transitions Optical, which will offer the best extra darkness and the best light protection in the clear to dark photochromic category. Transitions XTRActive new generation includes features that enhance the wearer’s life in all settings, according to Transitions Optical. Offering the best extra darkness in the clear to dark photochromic category, Transitions XTRActive new generation lenses are the darkest photochromic lenses in hot temperatures and the only photochromic lenses achieving category 3 levels of darkness at 35 degrees Celsius. In addition, Transitions XTRActive new generation lenses are the only photochromic lens achieving category 2 levels of darkness in the car, offering maximum darkness at 23 degrees Celsius with no driving restriction. The technology also offers the best harmful blue light protection across more light situations, including the best blue light protection indoors. As with all Transitions lens technologies, they block 100 percent of UVA and UVB.

Features: Compared to the Transitions XTRActive lenses on the market today, this new generation is darker overall, darker in hot temperatures and in the car, and up to 35 percent faster to fade back. These advances are possible thanks to the new nano-composite matrix technology combined with new, extra powerful broad spectrum dyes which activate in both the UV and visible light spectrum.

Availability: Transitions XTRActive new generation lenses will be available in the U.S. and Canada in the third quarter of 2021 in gray, brown, graphite green and in six style mirrors. Additional details on the timing of availability across materials and designs will be provided by the lens manufacturer partners of Transitions Optical. Availability in other markets will be announced at a later date.

In addition to this new generation, Transitions Optical began the rolling launch of Transitions XTRActive Polarized in the U.S. and Canada in January 2021. Both products provide extra protection for eyeglass wearers who are frequently in intense light situations or who are very light sensitive. Transitions XTRActive Polarized is an extension of the Transitions XTRActive range, bringing the additional benefits of polarization to the extra dark photochromic category, while Transitions XTRActive new generation lenses offer the best extra darkness. Transitions XTRActive Polarized lenses are designed for patients who want extra protection in high-glare situations. The unique polarization technology reduces glare outdoors, providing sharper vision, a larger field of view and bright, vivid colors.

UNITY BIOSYNC WITH 8.5 BASE CURVE OPTION
VSP Optics

Unity BioSync with HydraMist contact lenses are now available in two base curves, 8.5 mm and 8.8 mm, allowing doctors to choose the optimal fit for their patients.

Features: Unity BioSync with HydraMist first launched in 2019 exclusively to the VSP network. It was designed to provide exceptional comfort, high oxygen supply, great vision to patients and increased patient retention for practices and is now one of the few daily disposable, spherical contact lenses available in two base curves.

Like the 8.8 base curve lens, the 8.5 base curve lens has a diameter of 14.1 mm, and the power ranges include +8.00D to -10.00D. It offers a Dk/t value of 150, allowing higher oxygen permeability, which is critical to good eye health.

Unity BioSync in both base curves provides ideal optical performance through a combination of silicone hydrogel material and proprietary polymer coating exclusive to the Unity brand. Made with HydraMist, which features unique moisture retaining polymers for an increased level of hydration throughout the day, the lens increases the biocompatibility of its material and the surface of the eye, improving the overall experience for the contact lens wearer.

Availability: The Unity BioSync with HydraMist portfolio remains exclusive to the VSP network. Unity BioSync is only available with a prescription.

SCHNEIDER ANTI-FOG OPTION FOR AR COATERS
Schneider

Schneider is now offering alternative ways of applying its proven Anti-Fog technology. Schneider’s Anti-Fog technology has been in the market for more than three years and is a tested proven technology implemented in many optical labs worldwide. Previously, the application of the company’s permanent Anti-Fog coating required an ion beam gun and targets. It required a small hardware retrofit and was available for Schneider machines and some third-party machines as well. Now, almost anybody who owns an AR-coater can use Schneider’s Anti-Fog technology.

Features: Schneider’s Anti-Fog process can be applied to any hard coated, anti-reflective or mirror-coated lens, skipping the hydrophobic last layer. All that’s needed is a single consumable chip. Simply insert the chip to begin processing lenses. Schneider adapts the process parameters remotely, eliminating the need for a time-consuming hardware retrofit.

Unlike some other Anti-Fog technologies, Schneider uses a physical process for a long-term and reliable coating layer instead of hazardous sprays or cloths soaked with harmful substances. To preserve the Anti-Fog protection layer and its easy to clean properties, the lenses simply have to be cleaned and sealed with a special Anti-Fog cloth for daily use.

VERSION 4.0 OF RIGHTEYE VISION SYSTEM
RightEye

RightEye has launched a Version 4.0 update to the RightEye Vision System. This update offers three improvements including a new dynamic vision assessment module, an expanded and updated reference population dataset, and a modern dashboard and user interface.

The new Dynamic Vision Assessment Module combines the existing Functional Vision and Brain Health Modules into a single streamlined assessment that makes it easier for providers to identify eye movement impairments, illustrate a patient’s unique profile, and ultimately help improve dynamic vision to maximize their everyday health and wellness. Simple visualizations and scores, along with the ability to track, compare and show progress over time, make it easier to interpret test outcomes and communicate results to patients.

“Successful patient outcomes are grounded, in part, on data, and Version 4.0 will help our customers unlock new and powerful insights based on big data insights,” says Melissa Hunfalvay, PhD, chief science officer, RightEye. “When providers are able to rely on accurate and reliable data, track patient progress, and uncover impairments with ease, patients’ outcomes improve, and lives are changed for the better. At RightEye, we are dedicated to constantly improving our platform’s functionality, user experience and clinical utility.”

RightEye CEO Adam Gross adds: “As leaders and innovators in the emerging dynamic vision space, RightEye is committed to providing a product built on user priorities and continuous improvement. This new Version is designed to help our users obtain important insights faster, with increased visual and functional clarity. We’re excited to roll out this update to our loyal and passionate customers.”

Features: An updated and expanded analytical dataset is derived from a reference population 19 times larger than the previous version and has become the gold standard for eye movement behavior across the age spectrum. With robust age-based ranges included within all RightEye tests, providers can now compare individual visualizations at a higher level of granularity, leading to a more in-depth understanding of their patients’ dynamic vision.

Additionally, the RightEye dashboard was completely reimagined—from login to user management—providing users more information faster. The redesigned interface puts every data point at a user’s fingertips and robust universal search functionality allows them to effortlessly find every test, patient or note.
