A program designed to make it easier for ECPs to sell the additional pairs patients need for optimum visual performance and visual health.

Features: Everyone in the eyeglass lens business knows that patients need more than one pair, whether for computer work, outdoor time or a different look,” says David Jochims, founder and CEO of GSRx. “But in independent optometry, the number of patients who purchase an additional pair on the same day as the primary pair is below 10 percent. The One Pair is Never Enough program is designed to make additional pairs more affordable for patients, while increasing per-patient revenue for the practice.”

One Pair is Never Enough multiple pair packages consist of two pairs of GSRx’s most premium lenses (either epik Variable progressives or epik FFSV single vision) with GSRx Proper Optics frames for a single price. All lenses include GSRx’s top-of-the-line Infinity Clear AR coating. Optional epik Blue lens treatment and polarization are also included in the package price. ECPs can also use frames from their frameboard to increase their profits.

“The pricing puts two pairs of the most advanced customized lenses within reach for patients who would otherwise not opt for them, while adding to the practice’s bottom line,” says Jochims. “Most important, it gives patients the additional pairs they need for health, performance and style. One Pair is Never Enough provides the key for a practice program to increase multiple pair sales.”

The program includes staff training, along with marketing materials such as patient brochures, a dispensing mat, a patient lifestyle questionnaire and option selection forms.

ABB Optical Group

ABB Contact Lens Specialty Vision Products is now a master distributor of Tangible Clean, a new FDA-approved daily cleaning and disinfecting solution recommended for custom contact lenses coated with Tangible Hydra-PEG as well as other gas permeable or soft contact lenses.

Tangible Clean simplifies the cleaning, conditioning, disinfecting, rinsing and storing process. The solution rinses off easily and helps to potentially avoid problems associated with preservatives staying on the surface of the lens or other issues associated with most thick and viscous gas permeable lens cleaners. Tangible Clean is the recommended cleaning solution to use with Tangible Hydra-PEG coated lenses, but can also be used to clean and disinfect any gas permeable, soft or hybrid contact lenses.

Availability: ABB Contact Lens will fulfill orders for Tangible Clean made through the Tangible Science website at

Daily lid hygiene is recommended for everyone, especially dry eye and blepharitis sufferers, contact lens wearers or those preparing for ocular surgery. First, patients use Bruder Hygienic Eyelid Wipes to wipe away debris. Clean lids and lashes will be more receptive to the benefits of the antibacterial Bruder Hygienic Eyelid Solution. Second, apply one to two sprays of Bruder Hygienic Eyelid Solution to closed eyes to reduce bacterial growth and other microorganisms. No rinsing is required. Simply spray and let dry. The Bruder Moist Heat Eye Compress can be used morning, noon or night—whatever is most convenient for one’s daily routine—to alleviate symptoms of meibomian gland dysfunction and dry eye.

Hygienic Eyelid Sheets can be used along with the compress to keep it clean between washings. These untreated micro-fine sheets allow moisture to pass through without breaking down and are also convenient if the lids secrete any oils during therapy.

Features: To make it simple to dispense and educate patients about eyelid care, Bruder has developed the Hygienic Eyelid Care Kit. The Kit contains:

  • 1 Bruder Moist Heat Eye Compress
  • 10 Bruder Hygienic Eyelid Sheets
  • 30 Bruder Hygienic Eyelid Cleansing Wipes
  • 1 Bruder Hygienic Eyelid Solution (1 fl. oz.)

Bruder also offers a Hygienic Eyelid Cleansers Combo Pack containing 30 Bruder Hygienic Eyelid Cleansing Wipes and a 1 fl. oz. bottle of Bruder Hygienic Eyelid Solution.

The next generation of dark adaptation functional testing.

Features: The company’s original AdaptDx automated dark adaptometer was introduced in 2014 and has since been used by more than 1,000 eyecare professionals to identify and monitor AMD. The new AdaptDx Pro headset was custom designed and tested for patient comfort and includes all the functionality and accuracy of the company’s tabletop dark adaptometer. As a self-contained wearable headset, the AdaptDx Pro requires no dark room or external computer and features an artificial intelligence-driven onboard technician named Theia. After the in-office technician selects the testing protocol and places the device on the patient’s head, Theia takes over to facilitate a reliable, consistent testing experience by using automated instructions and adaptive feedback spoken directly to the patient.

“What makes the AdaptDx Pro so special is that it combines high-tech innovation and high touch patient care without sacrificing functionality or results,” says William McPhee, president and CEO at MacuLogix. “AdaptDx Pro makes it simple to fit dark adaptation testing into any practice workflow, and Theia frees up the technician to focus on other valuable tasks.”

Impaired dark adaptation is the earliest biomarker of AMD. Often manifested as night vision problems, this functional impairment becomes apparent years before drusen are visible. Therefore, assessing how well patients’ eyes can adapt from bright light to darkness makes it possible to detect AMD at a subclinical stage. AdaptDx Pro guided by Theia is a new way to measure dark adaptation in a clinical setting quickly and effectively, using an objective functional measurement called the Rod Intercept (RI). Importantly, impaired dark adaptation as measured by the AdaptDx Pro is 90 percent specific and sensitive to AMD, according to MacuLogix.
