20/20: The Isabel Marant eyewear collection is new to North America; can you tell us what consumers can expect from this launch?
Janet Unger: We are excited to offer Isabel Marant to select fashion-minded optical retailers in key markets across North America after successfully launching in Europe and in the North American department store channel in spring 2021. The spring 2022 launch collection, specifically curated for the N.A. optical market, will consist of 14 Rxable women’s sunglasses and 14 progressive-friendly optical frames in lightweight acetate, metal or acetate/metal combinations.
What are some of the design details from Isabel Marant's ready-to-wear collections that can be seen in the new eyewear styles?
Taking a cosmopolitan and nomadic approach to femininity, the timeless collection ranges from ’70s-inspired aviators, teardrop-shaped designs and edgy, oversized squared or rounded shapes in lightweight acetates to minimalistic metal styles with a special focus on lightness and comfort. Each of the styles are embellished by the fashion brand’s iconic Silver Leaf detail, which has been reinterpreted as a metal rivet on frame fronts, temples and on the shape of the metal nosepads and distinctive end-tips. The collection includes a fresh and versatile palette inspired by sunset shades, animal prints, as well as classic tones, subtle pastels and vibrant color contrasts.
