JU: How did your partnership with Bugatti come to be, and what were you most excited about when beginning this new collection?
LS: Bugatti knew I had an optical relationship with Karl Lagerfeld. They also knew I had done Chrome Hearts Eyewear. They knew I was German… Karl was German, Bugatti is German…. Germans like to work together. They called me, and a year later we had a deal. Working with Bugatti has been an unexpected and thrilling relationship. These are the most technical, creative people I’ve ever been associated with.

Materials and manufacturing techniques never seen before in the eyewear industry were developed and employed to create Collection One. What luxury materials can fans expect to see and can you describe these techniques?
Palladium coated sterling that never tarnishes. Positive Vapor Deposition (PVD) coating on titanium. I can’t tell you any more secrets.

What design details centric to the Bugatti brand can we see translated into the eyewear?
The Bugatti Eyewear collection elegantly reinterprets the spirit and tones of the brand, forming an exquisite fusion of “then and now.”

You’ve created and designed countless other eyewear brands—making an impact on the industry. What makes this Bugatti line different from what we have seen recently in the market?
It is truly luxury quality, using the most expensive materials in the world.■
