20/20: What made you decide to create another kids’ collection under the ClearVision umbrella?
David Friedfeld: ClearVision has industry-leading pediatric eyewear, as well as teen and young adult lines, but we were missing something for kids between the ages of 7 and 12. Our customers were very happy with the features and benefits of Dilli Dalli, so we concentrated on developing what might be next for kids growing up Dilli Dalli. We took the comfortable, durable and colorful designs Dilli Dalli is known for and found ways to adapt those qualities for growing kids and tweens.
What sets Demi + Dash apart from the other children’s eyewear brands on the market?
Demi + Dash offers superior durability at a price parents will appreciate. The Flexyz subcollection features IntelliFlex 2 hingeless technology, based on the IntelliFlex from Dilli Dalli but without ripples on the outside for multidirectional flexibility with a more grown-up look. The 180s include 180-degree spring hinges, also for added durability. In addition to the durable designs, we surveyed nearly 500 eyecare professionals to find the pricing sweet spot for children’s eyewear, and we know these are priced in the perfect range.
What do you hope children gain from wearing styles from this collection?
While parents will appreciate the price and durability of Demi + Dash, growing kids and tweens will love how comfortable and stylish these frames are! As kids grow older, they also grow more style conscious. With that in mind, Demi + Dash blends grown-up shapes with candy-coated color, exciting embellishments and playful patterns for frames that are fit for fun! Plus, flared nose bridges (some with silicone nose plugs for added comfort), SoftTouchTM material and adjustable temple tips, ensure all-day wearability and adjustability for growing faces.
