Optima presents Polartec 1.67, the thinnest and darkest polarized lens for glare reduction.
At a 1.67 index of refraction, Polartec 1.67 has an advanced aspheric design for the best visual acuity. Polartec 1.67's polarized film is engineered to absorb all reflected light waves. This lightweight and highly impact resistant lens comes with 100% U.V. protection and can be surfaced to a 1.5 C.T. The enhanced design of the lens provides better visual acuity, while the polarizaion in Polartec 1.67 significantly reduces the glare that can lead to eye strain, eye fatigue and discomfort.
Polartec 1.67 is available in a Gray C color, a true grey or 'stone grey', the darkest in the industry. At a 20% transmission, it has the lowest light transmission of any polarized lens on the market. Polartec 1.67 comes in four base curves: +.50, +2.00, +4.00 and +6.00 for prescriptions ranging from +4.00 to -9.00.
The manufacturing process of Polartec 1.67 is a testament to its superior quality. Unlike most polarized lenses which are laminated, Polartec 1.67 is a molded lens. The film is applied during casting and the silver halite is introduced to the high index plastic monomer in the mold. This eliminates the possibility of delamination. The consistency of the film's placement prevents breakage in manufacturing and surfacing, and allows for consistent reproduction.
Polartec 1.67 marketing materials include patient brochures, a full-size poster and a complete information sheet listing frequently asked questions, features and benefits, and technical specifications.

PHILOSOPHY: “Polartec 1.67 allows high index lens wearers the clarity, vivid color, contrast and sharp acuity of an aspheric polarized lens. Polartec 1.67 matches the material and index of refraction for those with high Rx's for their second pair of polarized eyewear,” says Nick Niejelow, Optima President and CEO of Optima.
