ClearVision Optical launches Koodles Eyewear, a six-piece collection of ophthalmic frames for kids six to 11. The two unisex, two boys’ and two girls’ designs each come in two sizes (one for an older child and one for a younger child) and a variety of popular colors such as violet, pink, blue, brown, black and gunmetal. Shapes take their inspiration from adult styles and consist of butterflies, simple geometrics and flattering pillowed designs in stainless steel and metal/plastic combos.

PHILOSOPHY:

“We put much thought into pricing Koodles because our goal is to keep the consumer cost around $100,” says David Friedfeld, ClearVision president. “With the increasing number of states requiring comprehensive eye exams for children before they enter school, the Koodles Eyewear collection for kids answers an economical need in today’s marketplace.” Brand manager Pam Elfreich adds: “Koodles is all about giving the kid simple, fresh styling, backed by quality—at a great price. Our young customer wants a cool look that will last, without the expense of a designer label.”

MARKETING:

Colorful merchandising tools are available, including a countercard and brand ID, both bearing the “google-eyed” Koodles logo.
