ERIK ESTRADA LEADS NATIONAL EFFORT WITH TRANSITIONS OPTICAL TO EDUCATE CONSUMERS ABOUT YEAR-ROUND EYE HEALTH

Transitions Optical’s “Get Sighted” initiative led by actor Erik Estrada and Larry Lampert, OD, is raising awareness about the importance of healthy sight among consumers across the U.S. Over the past few months, Estrada, of the famed 1970’s TV show “CHiPs,” has been playing a new role for Transitions as a Healthy Sight Officer. He has led the Healthy Sight Patrol through the streets of New York City and at the Transitions Championship in the Tampa Bay area to distribute “Sightations” for violations such as “Visual Abandonment” and “Indecent Exposure” to consumers who were not wearing proper UV-blocking eyewear while outdoors.

In addition to appearances on national and local broadcast media alongside Lampert, Estrada encourages everyone to join the Healthy Sight Patrol by asking them to visit www.GetSighted.com to send a “Sightation” to friends and family members who are not properly caring for their eyes and learn more about how they can ensure lifelong healthy sight.

YOUNGER AND TRANSITIONS WRAP-UP NEW TWO-SEMINAR TOUR

Younger Optics and Transitions Optical recently wrapped up a cross-country tour consisting of two new seminars for eyecare professionals. The 12-city tour, titled “Eyewear Essentials,” kicked off October 12 in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. and concluded November 18 in Tampa, Fla.

The first seminar, “Eyewear Essentials: More Choices,” provided ECPs with information on patient expectations and emerging trends. Attendees were introduced to a simple way to meet all of a patient’s visual needs through two pairs of essential eyewear. The second seminar, “Make Sunwear Important with a New to the World Sunlens: NuPolar Trilogy—Visual Armor,” introduced ECPs to an advanced new lens product and learn how to increase their practice or store’s income by making sunwear a more important part of their business.

Attendees received two ABO education credits, as well as professional vouchers to try Transitions XTRActive and NuPolar Trilogy lenses for free. At each event, ECPs had a chance to win a popular prize, such as an Amazon Kindle, no purchase necessary. At the Utica, Mich. seminar on November 3, Gayanna Gonzalez, Baldwin Eye Care in Lake Orion, Mich., was presented with a Kindle by Herb Fletcher, regional lens consultant for Younger Optics, and Erin Zonta, NuPolar marketing manager for Younger Optics.
