Last semester, Savannah College of Art and Design’s metals and jewelry class got a little competitive. The McGee Group, on behalf of the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation for better vision and hearing, orchestrated a competition for students to develop one optical frame and case, and one sunglass and case. Materials and face shapes along with color and industry trends were all elements that factored into making “original, wearable and stylish” designs. The group gave their final presentation before a panel of judges, including The McGee Group’s CEO and president Wayne McGee and EVP, Matt McGee; the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation’s executive director, Christina Lennon; Peter Moresi, OD, and Kristy Moresi, VP and treasurer at Optique Atlanta. The top three winners will receive cash prizes and have their styles manufactured for sale at the Optique Atlanta in Atlanta, Ga. May the best pairs win.
