During a ceremony hosted by Suffolk County Executive, Steve Levy in Hauppauge, N.Y., ClearVision Optical was awarded a 2008 Regional Commuter Choice Innovator Award. ClearVision created an innovative carpooling incentive program for their 120 employees. The goal of the program was to promote car pooling in order to conserve gas and help improve Long Island’s air quality by reducing traffic. The company’s carpooler incentives include receiving a $50 gas card each month, quarterly raffles, preferred parking spaces and a “Guaranteed Ride Program” for those carpoolers who need a ride in times of emergency. The program was made possible by a New York State grant the company won through the Long Island Transportation Management (LITM) office. ClearVision’s Brenda Litzky is shown here accepting the award from Levy.
