VISTA, Calif.--Ophthonix is introducing its first sun lens at International Vision Expo West. Known as the iZon Gray Sun Lens, it is manufactured using a proprietary process that incorporates dye into the company’s iZonik material, which creates improved color consistency and durability. Available in single-vision and progressive versions, the lens features a design based on the patient’s individual iPrint and created by Ophthonix’s proprietary wavefront-guided technology platform.

The iZon Gray Sun Lens has a 15 percent light transmittance, blocks UV-A and UV-B to 400 nm and comes standard with hardcoat, AR and super-hydrophobic treatments. It is available in sphere powers ranging from +5.00D to -8.00D; cylinder up to -4.00D; add 0.75 to 3.50.

“We are excited to bring the iZon Sun Lens to eyecare professionals and their patients,” said Stephen Osbaldeston, chief executive officer of Ophthonix. “Eyecare professionals can offer their patients the benefits of high-definition vision they already enjoy with clear iZon Lenses, now in iZon Gray Sun Lenses.”

The iZon Sun Lenses are prescribed using the same process as clear iZon High Resolution Lenses. Eyecare professionals utilize the Z-View Wavefront aberrometer to measure the second to sixth order aberrations of the eye which determines the optical fingerprint, or iPrint.

“My patients who have tried regular iZon Lenses love them and have been asking for sunglass lenses,” commented Loren Azevedo, OD and FAAO at A to Z Eye Care in Arcata, Calif. “I expect the iZon Sun Lenses will be well received.” Ophthonix plans to release the lens in other popular colors soon.
