FAIRFAX, Va.--The Optical Laboratories Association (OLA) has released the details of its upcoming Annual Meeting program and conferences. The OLA will be held on Nov. 6 to 8 at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn.

“A repeat performance by our highest rated speaker in 2007 will headline the meeting,” said Kevin Bargman, Hawkins Optical and OLA vice president, announcing the program for The OLA 2008 Annual Meeting, “and anyone who has heard Nancy Friedman, ‘The Telephone Doctor,’ will be lined up to hear her again.”

Added Bob Dziuban, OLA executive director, “We’re going to follow with an up-to-the-minute economic forecast when the Wall Street Journal’s senior economics writer Steve Moore gives a ‘two-days-after’ analysis of the election results and what they will mean for business.”

“Both of these keynote speakers have a message for every business person who attends The OLA 2008 Annual Meeting--lab and supplier alike,” said Barney Dougher, Hoya Vision Care and OLA president. “Customer Service is the cornerstone for everyone in the optical business, and we all want to know what the ‘crystal ball’ says after the November elections have been decided.”

“The education classes have something for everyone in the lab business, from production issues to sales and marketing to business operations,” noted Bargman, “Many of the classes will be of equal interest to supplier companies, such as ‘Increasing Trade Show ROI’ and ‘Partnerships and Relationships.’”

J. Larry Enright, Perferx Optical and OLA president-elect, noted, ““We are continuing our commitment to expand the education choices for labs by continuing Sales University--professional sales training customized for optical lab and supplier sales people. The eight-hour training program continues throughout the next six months with follow-up training via conference calls.”

“We’re also beginning to increase our education choices for production personnel,” said OLA director John Haigh, J&J Optical, “with ‘Round 2’ of the quality inspection analysis of drilled lenses; plus classes on lab efficiencies, surfacing basics, and bevels and edging challenges.”
