DALLAS--Essilor will introduce its newest progressive lens, Varilux Ipseo, at International Vision Expo this week. Described by Essilor as a "totally custom-made PAL," Ipseo integrates an individual's physiological measures of eye and head movement--in addition to their prescription's parameters--into the lens design. Eyecare practitioners use Essilor's proprietary Vision Print System (VSP) to measure the unique visual behavior of each patient's head and eye movements, allowing the lenses to be individually designed to optimize a patient's field of vision.

"Varilux Ipseo lenses adapt to the wearer, rather than the wearer having to adapt to the design," said Mike Daley, president of Essilor Lenses.

Essilor began beta testing Varilux Ipseo in the U.S. in 2004, and will continue the test and roll-out of the Vision Print System for the remainder of 2005.     --Andrew Karp
