BALTIMORE--Spectera, a UnitedHealth Group company, has pledged $500,000 worth of ophthalmic frames to support Volunteer Optometrists in Service to Humanity (VOSH) relief efforts for people in the tsunami-affected areas of South Asia.

Tom Davis, chief marketing officer of Spectera, announced the donation at the recent Optometry Meeting in Dallas, and also presented a cash donation to support other VOSH activities.

“People and their families are still suffering the effects of the tsunami that devastated the area in December 2004, and VOSH volunteers are true heroes as they reach out to serve the needs of people in these communities,” said Davis. “Our support of VOSH and its efforts will help expand access to quality care and result in a significant improvement in the health of the people living in these communities.”
