MINNEAPOLIS--Vision-Ease is launching a proprietary, photochromic lens with the brand name LifeRx. According to Vision-Ease, the new product offers “crystal clarity indoors, darkens very quickly, deactivates 50 percent faster than other photochromic lenses.” The lens uses Vision-Ease Lens’ patented molded film technology for greater durability and ease of processing.

The initial rollout of LifeRx product line includes the first-ever polycarbonate D-28, as well as an aspheric semi-finished single-vision, and Illumina progressive designs.

In response to Vision-Ease’s launch of LifeRx, Transitions Optical is severing its partnership with the lens maker.

“As a result of Vision-Ease’s decision to pursue a different business strategy, Transitions Optical has reluctantly ended its relationship effective September 30,” said Rick Elias, president of Transitions Optical. “Transitions and its ongoing partners remain committed to growing the brand and photochromic category overall.”

Doug Hepper, president and chief executive officer of Vision-Ease Lens, said “Transitions’ decision is disappointing to Vision-Ease, given our longstanding relationship. Our number one priority is to minimize the customer impact brought about by this unfortunate decision. Despite the dissolution of the relationship, Vision-Ease Lens is prepared to continue to supply Transitions product.”
