LAKE FOREST, Calif.--The January acquisition of Ocular Sciences by parent The Cooper Companies (NYSE: COO) helped CooperVision nearly double its revenues in its third quarter ended July 31.

In Q3, CooperVision had net revenues of $195.1 million, up 90 percent. The company’s operating income for the period, including $11.2 million in non-recurring acquisition and restructuring expenses, was $46.1 million, vs. $29 million in the same quarter last year.

Sales of CooperVision’s specialty contact lenses--toric, cosmetic, multifocal and CLs to alleviate dry-eye symptoms--grew by 50 percent in Q3, accounting for nearly half its soft lens business. Sales of toric lenses increased 53 percent in the quarter and accounted for about 33 of soft-CL revenues. Disposable toric products grew 62 percent in Q3 and now represent about 77 percent of the company’s worldwide toric sales.
