NEW YORK—The Optical Women’s Association (OWA) will host its next Professional Optical Woman’s Workshop (POWW) titled, “Taking the Challenge: Eating Healthier on the Road, on the Job, on the Go” during International Vision Expo West in Las Vegas. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 5, from 4:30-6:00 p.m., in Room 3501 of the Venetian/Palazzo Congress Center.

Rebecca Johnson, CPOT, COT, COE, president of EyeTrain4You and an OWA member will lead the two-hour workshop. As a professional trainer, Johnson finds herself on the go and has taken a challenge: Leading up to the workshop, she is making a concerted effort to find a way to improve her diet while on-the-go.

“This workshop should be of real value to all of our members who are active, on-the-go women,” said Christie Walker, OWA board member and event coordinator. “Attendees are encouraged to bring their best practices for eating healthy on-the-go to share with other attendees. This will be a very interactive workshop.”

As part of the POWW event, Johnson is asking people to check out her blog, post comments, and provide encouragement, tips or advice. She will be talking about her challenges, what she has learned along the way and sharing this information with attendees during her workshop. Johnson will also offer tips and advice on her successes and even her failures. The workshop includes light hors d’oeuvres and non-alcoholic drinks. To register, visit the OWA home page at www.opticalwomen.com and click on the feature button.
