MELVILLE, N.Y.—Marchon Eyewear, Inc. has announced that Tony Klijn has been named managing director for Marchon Germany, reporting directly to Nicola Zotta, vice president/managing director of the EMEA region.

“Tony will be an excellent addition to our Marchon Germany office. His expertise and extensive knowledge in eyewear will be an asset to our international team and we look forward to creating an even stronger presence in Germany,” said Claudio Gottardi, president and CEO of Marchon.

Klijn has been a member of the optical industry for 20 years, most recently as Luxottica’s country manager for South Africa and prior to that, the country manager for Germany. He’s held several senior positions in country management, sales and marketing.

“I’m very excited about the opportunity to work with Claudio, Nicola and the Marchon Germany team,” added Klijn. “It is a great honor to be working with Marchon’s worldwide portfolio and I welcome the opportunity to grow each brand in the German region, as aligned with the company’s plan to be a strong global presence in the eyewear market.”

Klijn will be based out of the Marchon Germany office in Munich and will relocate from Cape Town, South Africa to Germany with his family at the beginning of 2012.
