PLAINVIEW, N.Y.—Davis Vision announced to its workforce earlier this week that the company’s headquarters will be relocating to San Antonio, Texas. The move affects some 100 administrative employees, but does not impact more than 1,300 other Davis Vision and Empire Vision employees who will remain in the state of New York, the company said.

“For the last three years, we have been evolving and strengthening our organization to ensure customers and health care providers receive the best possible products and services we can make available, “ said Steve Holden, president, Davis Vision. “Bringing the managed vision care resources of Davis Vision closer to our parent’s retail and distribution operations will enable us to provide customer solutions that are innovative, appropriate and cost-effective.”

Only the company headquarters’ administrative functions will be relocated. The move is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter, 2012. Employees who do not relocate will be offered a severance package with outplacement assistance.

The sales and client management functions will remain in Plainview or in existing branch offices. Davis Vision’s Plainview-based manufacturing operations are not affected by the move. The company’s customer relationship and information technology center currently located in Latham, N.Y. also will not be impacted. The relocation will be seamless to Davis Vision’s clients, members and providers, the company stated.

“The corporate and administrative associates who will be impacted by this move have been strong contributors to our company’s success over the years,” said Holden. “We hope that many of them will be able to take advantage of the new job opportunities we will provide in San Antonio. This move promises to create an environment full of opportunities that will not only benefit those associates who chose to move, but our entire family of vision companies.”
