Responsible for performing advanced technical ophthalmic work up, procedures, measurements and tests to provide data to the ophthalmologist and assist in patient care. Position requires good understanding of ophthalmology outpatient day to day office routine; will assist resident ophthalmologist, staff, and contract optometrists throughout patient exams, office and laser procedures. Strong clinical skills are a must. Skills to include: comprehensive medical and ophthalmic history, visual acuity, pupil assessment, confrontation visual fields, lensometry, pachymetry, refraction, slit lamp and applanation tonometry. Must adhere to strict confidentiality and consistently provides quality patient care, excellent communication, and customer service care; demonstrates the ability to follow through on tasks from start to finish. Team work is essential along with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, coworkers, physicians, and supervisors. Required Experience: Individuals with ophthalmic assisting experience but no certification may apply. Employee will be paid at ophthalmic assistant level until certification is obtained. Required Education: Ophthalmic Technician with two years ophthalmic assisting experience is preferred, but not mandatory. Contact Star Metclaf (firstname.lastname@example.org).
