THE COLONY, Texas—Schneider Optical Machines unveiled its latest digital lens processing technology at a conference here from May 4 to 7. The event, billed as Digicon, drew 135 optical laboratory owners and managers, including representatives from wholesale, integrated retail and managed vision care laboratories.

The four-day program kicked off with two days of intensive training on machine care, processing and optimization. Attendees learned free-form essentials, equipment calibration and troubleshoot techniques and received hands-on training at Schneider’s North American headquarters here.

On day three, Schneider executives premiered the Schneider Prolab, a versatile digital surfacing system geared for small and mid-size labs. Schneider also showcased a new alloy-free blocking system and an industrial edger. Later in the day, six lab executives participated in a panel discussion on digital success stories. A guest speaker, Vince Poscente, shared his experiences as an Olympic speed skier and related them to achieving excellence. The final day of Digicon featured a golf scramble and a trip to the Texas Motor Speedway, where attendees experienced a ride in a NASCAR racer.—Andrew Karp
