MONTE CARLO—Optical revenues rose 8 percent for HAL Holding last year, to €2,194 million (up 3.7 percent at constant currency rates), the company said yesterday. HAL operates Pearle Europe and other global optical chains.

HAL's comparable-store sales in optical edged up 0.3 percent for the year. Operating income for the company’s optical retail chains reached €258 million in 2010, vs. €250 million in 2009.

HAL’s overall net income, including its non-optical businesses, was €432.1 million in 2010, a 24 percent increase. The company’s total revenues for the year were €3,769 million, up 9.3 percent (up 2 percent at constant currency rates).

HAL Holding made several optical acquisitions last year, including a 25 percent interest in Mexico’s Grupo Optico Lux in May and the purchase of 100 percent of Mexican sunglass retailer Tide Ti in December. HAL also increased its interest in Safilo Group to just over 37 percent early in 2010.
