LAKELAND, Tenn.—Members of the Opticians Association of America (OAA) will be electing new OAA officers during the organization’s 2010 Delegate Assembly at the National Opticians Convention, to be held Sept. 16 through 19 in conjunction with the ABO/NCLE Education Conference in Cincinnati.

Nominated as OAA president is Diane Charles of Washington, who also currently serves as president of the organization. Tom Hicks will remain in the office of the immediate past president. Shirley Earley of Ohio is the nominee for first vice president; North Carolina’s Mike Szczerbiak was nominated as second VP. The nominee for secretary/treasurer of the organization is Russ B. Fritz Jr. of Connecticut and Jeanine Solomon of Texas was nominated to represent individual membership.

The 2010 list of nominees all held the same positions last year. “This year is pretty much status quo,” OAA executive director Chris Allen told VMail, adding, “Next year, OAA will have lots of change.”

According to the organization’s summer 2010 newsletter, in order to vote during the delegate assembly members must be appointed by a member state, an OAA honored fellow member, an OAA firm member or a guild member. Those who are not currently honored fellow members can upgrade their membership by visiting the OAA website.
