Network Steadily Grows

We are more than halfway through 2010, and it's been a good year! Vision Source offices continue to grow and you are now a part of the second largest eye care network in the world! With the addition of more than 90 new Vision Source practices and more than 200+ new Vision Source colleagues, we continue to build this great organization into a formidable entity that exhibits the strength of independent optometry. Through the organized and cohesive efforts of more than 5,000 of the most talented independent optometrists in North America, we are building a network that will shape the future success of our profession. Congratulations, and thanks to each and every one of you.

Vision Monday Recognizes Vision Source

Jill Cox
Director of Network Services/VSR Coordinator

Vision Monday recognizes women in the optical industry with a vision for the future in its annual Most Influential Women in Optical report. I am proud to announce that Director of Network Services/VSR Coordinator Jill Cox was included in this feature. Jill can be seen in the July 19, 2010 edition of Vision Monday under Mentors on page 54 or in the online edition here. Congratulations Jill!

Changes in the VSR Program

VSR is the acronym for Vision Source Representatives. They are key staff members who represent their doctors in peer-to-peer staff meetings. The VSR program has created a neural network connecting participating offices across the nation with resources and training to help their staff work at a higher level of business competency, while increasing profitability and professionalism. With close to 90 VSR groups meeting across the nation, there was a growing need for a stronger support system to manage and grow the program. With that in mind, we have added two part time positions—one each in the western part of the U.S. and the other in the eastern portion. Sandi Bergen and Daphne Reznik, respectively, will provide their expertise as Facilitators in their own areas to mentor and promote the VSR concept.

Sandi Bergen, Western U.S. VSR Field Manager

Sandi comes from a long family line of optometric professionals. Her great-uncle was an optometrist in Los Angeles, and his father was a traveling optometrist in the wild west. Sandi’s brother and daughter (Vision Source's Dr. Jeff Krohn and Dr. Alesha Jensen) are also optometrists who practice together in California. Her leadership has been honed and tested through 15 years of work in private practice, 10 of which were as the study coordinator for seven FDA contact lens trials. She brings to Vision Source a unique view from both inside and outside the profession which will be an asset to the VSR Facilitators in Western Region of the U.S. as they draw from her leadership expertise.
Daphne Reznik, Eastern U.S. VSR Field Manager

Daphne graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in political science. After spending several years at the Michigan state Capitol, she made a career move into the private sector, handling the marketing for the Vision Source office of Drs. Rigel, Vincent-Riemer and Knapp in East Lansing, Mich. Her background in the legislative arena, specifically in business issues, prepared her for promoting their practice to the community. She has a true passion for marketing optometry and Vision Source practices. With her background and six years as a VSR Facilitator for the Mid-Michigan region, she brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to her new role as Eastern U.S. VSR Regional Field Manager.

Watch Your Email for Our Member Satisfaction Survey

Later in August, we'll be asking all members to participate in an online survey to determine your satisfaction with the value and services provided by Vision Source. The survey will only take a few minutes to complete and is an invaluable resource in our ongoing improvement of your network. Please watch for it and take the time to respond. Your participation helps us in benchmarking and making improvements network wide. Look in your email for the survey in late August.

TruClear and TruClear HD Update

For three years, the proprietary TruClear™ family of advanced PAL lenses from Essilor has been available to Vision Source members. Today, our offices dispense an average of 17,000 pairs of TruClear lenses each month, representing 32 percent of all PAL lenses sold in the network. Use of our Viso™ coatings topped 22,000 pairs in March,  representing 35 percent of all coatings prescribed.

Please continue to support our Elite partners such as Essilor so they will bring our network superior products and savings.
