JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—Johnson & Johnson Vision Care’s (NYSE: JNJ) Vistakon division and the American Optometric Foundation recently announced recipients of several optometric residency awards.

The 2009 winners of the Dr. Terrance Ingraham Pediatric Optometry Residency Awards are Catherine McDaniel, OD, of the University of Houston College of Optometry, and Aparna Raghuram, OD, of the New England College of Optometry.

Winners of the Dr. George W. Mertz Contact Lens Residency Awards are Gloria Chiu, OD, of the Southern California College of Optometry, and Karen DeLoss, OD, of the University of Houston College of Optometry.

Dr. Sheldon Wechsler Contact Lens Residency Awards for 2009 go to Kristine Dalton, OD, of the University of Waterloo School of Optometry, and Emily Kachinsky, OD, of the New England College of Optometry.

Award recipients each receive $4,000 toward their graduate education, including a $750 travel fellowship to attend the annual meeting of the American Academy of Optometry in Orlando in November.

The Vistakon Residency Awards are intended to promote post-graduate optometric clinical education by supporting residents who demonstrate talent and commitment in the fields of children’s vision and contact lenses, according to the company. Recipients were selected by the American Optometric Foundation from more than 30 applicants.
