Five stories to be told and five short films to be seen… The third edition of GIORGIO ARMANI’s “Films of City Frames” was recently presented at the 2017 South by Southwest Conference and Festivals in Austin, Texas. This project, which promotes the Frames of Life campaign, was completed in partnership with Luxottica and Rai Cinema, allowing Giorgio Armani to continue his commitment toward supporting emerging talents in various art forms.

This year’s edition featured a private screening of five short films followed by a discussion moderated by fashion critic and curator Angelo Flaccavento. Following the event, Roberta Armani and this year’s mentor Dev Patel hosted a cocktail reception. Five schools were selected from around the world, which included the Prague Film School (Prague, Czech Republic), the Beijing Film Academy (Beijing, China), the Filmakademie Baden-Wurttemberg (Ludwigsburg, Germany), the Tisch School of Film and Television at Tel Aviv University (Tel Aviv, Israel) and Emerson College (Boston, Mass.).

“Cinema, just like fashion, is a wonderful medium, because it keeps endlessly renewing itself thanks to the contribution of young talents who bring their unique point of view,” says Armani. “I am proud of my Films of City Frames initiative: We have reached edition number three, we are in Austin at South by Southwest, which represents the cutting edge of visual creativity, and we are presenting stories that are emotionally strong as they are engaging. This edition also expresses a message of true multiculturalism, which I think today is particularly important.” To view the five short films, visit framesoflife.com.
