The chic, the outrageous and the classic all descended upon New York for Fashion Week last month to catch a first look at the latest designer collections. We are happy to report there was much high style, eye style in the Spring 2008 lines of some former 20/20 cover gals—and guy.
Ever sophisticated, Carolina Herrera showed a collection filled with refined frocks inspired by the watercolors of Jeremiah Goodman. Never one to over accessorize, the only adornment gracing some models was elegant sunwear from Base Curve, the luxury division of Rem Eyewear.
Menswear designer John Varvatos highlighted his rock and roll style, which was influenced by gypsies, folk artists and rich hippies, with both eyewear and sunwear from Base Curve. Varvatos even gave a warm handshake to Base Curve designer Blake Kuwahara as he made his way out to take his bows after the show.
Betsey Johnson pumped up the volume, as usual, with a whimsically flamboyant collection inspired by prom night—spanning the 1950s to the present. We loved, loved, loved the great cat eye shades she paired with much of her apparel. No snooty prom queen, Johnson credited all her licensees including B Robinson Optical. It was certainly a collection worthy of her trademark apres-show cartwheel. In fact, we’re cartwheeling ourselves over all the fashionable frames we spied on the catwalk.
