Sutro Vision presents its two sunglass collections, Classic (five styles) and Hybrid (two styles). Frames are made from UV-resistant grilamid and are heat moldable for a custom fit. Each style is equipped with the patent-pending Sutro Ratchet Hinge, a ratcheting hinge made of surgical stainless steel that’s integrated into the design for strength and durability and has a fixed screw that moves with the temples and won’t back out. The ratchet keeps the frame closed when hanging from a shirt pocket, allowing the use of a lighter spring that centers the frame on the face without pressure. Lenses are polarized mineral glass by Barberini and are Rxable. Frames are offered in satin or gloss black, satin tortoise, camel, oxblood and royal milk tea with color-coordinated lenses. The Hybrids are an evolution of the Classic collection and feature a proprietary silicone nose bridge, which allows for an adjustable fit and provides no-slip comfort.

“Our goal is ambitious, to build a brand around quality. Long term. We are striving to make an item that is precious, something you want to take care of,” says Doug Smith, Sutro director of sales. “Building a quality product that doesn’t need to be replaced in two weeks is the original ‘green’ idea.

Sutro developed out of a collaboration of three friends, Tony Guerrero, Amani King and Jeff Sand, who grew up immersed in the San Francisco skateboard, snowboard and music cultures. Their decision to make eyewear came from wanting a brand that had both product they respected and an image they could identify with.
