I hope that your holidays brought you the warmth of good cheer and this New Year the opportunities that will make a difference in your lives.

This column is my last for 20/20 as I have decided to leave Jobson Optical Group and my role as Director of Education for 20/20. I have loved my time at Jobson and feel fortunate to have been a part of its education efforts since 2004 when 20/20 Editor-in-Chief James Spina first offered me the position. I was a consultant then, only working three days a month… imagine.

The Jobson family has been my family for more than a decade, and it has helped me grow as a professional. I have significantly added to my own identity as a writer, an optician and teacher, and that warms my heart.

There are a number of reasons for the departure. I am antsy to immerse myself in something new. I just passed two milestones, 70 years of life and this year, 50 years in optical. I like consulting on new products… I once read a prediction that we could have three full-time careers in our lifetime (I think Buckminster Fuller) because of increasing lifespan. I have been blessed with excess energy and excellent health with the occasional intervention of modern medicine to take this now to a fourth career.

I will take a full-time position with Enchroma working with a very smart team to help grow the company, both online and with ECPs, in the U.S. and worldwide. It’s one of those products that makes you smile, and that seems a fitting next career.
Thank you also to you, our readers, who have made education about the science and sales of optical products a major focus and such a big part of our success here at 20/20.
