Following in the footsteps of the successful launch of Derek Lam Sunwear earlier this year, Modo introduces the Derek Lam ophthalmic line, consisting of five acetate frames and four block titanium styles. Targeted to the young-in-spirit, cultured, self-confident woman who has built a career and lifestyle based on her desires, the frames are handcrafted by artisans in Japan. Distinctly feminine, the eyewear takes its direction from the smaller silhouettes of the ’40s and ’50s. Rounded temples reinforce the look of vintage frames. Colors also reflect a sensual, feminine feel and include pine, scarlet, acorn, chianti, pink, tortoise, copper, gun, brushed silver and matte brown and black. Some styles are equipped with spring hinges.

“Derek Lam is one of the most talented designers of our time,” says Modo CEO Alessandro Lanaro. “His subtle elegance and sophisticated, out-of-the-ordinary materials fit perfectly with Modo’s product philosophy. The Derek Lam Eyewear Collection represents an exclusive alternative to conventional designer brands.”

Packaging and POP materials echo the sophistication of the collection. Frames come in a rounded black leather case in a paper box similar to an exclusive fragrance.

Derek Lam’s goal is to create modern luxury. “Luxury is about finding parts of life, fashion, accessories that have soul. Luxury has to have a human touch. It should be witty, unpretentious and stand for a heritage of beautifully made product,” the designer says.
