Modo launches the Derek Lam Eyewear collection, currently consisting of six zyl and two titanium sunglasses. Targeted to women who are cultured and self-confident and have built a career and lifestyle based on their desires, the line was developed from the same sources of inspiration that guided the fashion collection—American sportswear from the ’40s and ’50s—practical, yet feminine, sensual and a touch naughty. Shapes are elegant variations on cat eyes, butterflies and ovals. Temples feature rounded profiles. Each frame has a touch of pink, consistent with other Derek Lam accessories. The choice of handcrafted Japanese zyl and titanium reflect Lam’s love of luxurious materials. An ophthalmic collection will debut in March.

PHILOSOPHY: “Modo aims to extend the distinctive style statement and successful track record the Derek Lam brand has achieved in the fashion industry into an eyewear line,” says the Modo design team. “We seek to differentiate the Derek Lam Eyewear brand by developing a collection around three main elements: unmistakable quality, unusual, yet elegant design and subtle, unexpected details.”
MARKETING: Merchandising materials include logo plaques and countercards with imagery from Derek Lam’s fashion shows. Frames are packaged in a set consisting of a micro-fiber pouch, leather rounded case and elegant paper box that includes a UPS code and is ready for shipping.
