VSP Optics
VSP Optics is expanding its Unity product line with the launch of Unity BioSync, its first contact lenses. The premium daily disposable spherical contact lens provides “ideal comfort and optical performance through a proprietary combination of silicone hydrogel material and proprietary polymer coating, exclusive to Unity BioSync,” according to VSP Optics.
Features: Unity BioSync is made with HydraMist, which features unique moisture retaining polymers for an increased level of hydration throughout the day. HydraMist aims to improve the biocompatibility of the contact lens material and the surface of the eye to improve the overall experience for contact lens wearers.
Unity BioSync has a base curve of 8.8 mm and a diameter of 14.1 mm. The power ranges include +8.00D to -10.00D. It offers a Dk/t value of 150, allowing more oxygen to get to the eyes, which is critical in preserving eye health.
Availability: The lenses will initially be available for patients through practices participating in the VSP Global Premier Program.
VUZIX BLADE WITH ZOI MEET

Vuzix is releasing the Zoi Meet real-time transcription app on Vuzix Blade Smart Glasses, enabling users to receive instant transcription of everything that is being said in one of the 12 languages offered.
Features: The Zoi Meet service is available as an app on the Vuzix Blade Smart Glasses, allowing for hands-free language translation in which speech is automatically transcribed into text and projected directly onto the display of the headset. This launch is making a debut of the first collaboration on the market to support live multilingual communication through AR Smart Glasses technology.
The Zoi Meet application on the Vuzix Blade can also be connected to any Zoi Meet hosted meeting by entering the meeting PIN code into the application. Using the Zoi Meet application on the Blade meeting, attendees can receive real-time language translation during the meeting from any one of 12 supported languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Italian, Polish, Dutch, Arabic, Chinese [simplified], Japanese and Korean) or closed captioning by setting the “to” and “from” languages to the same language.
The Zoi Meet application can also be used to host a local meeting on the Vuzix Blade to transcribe local conversations by accessing the microphone on the Vuzix Blade which transforms the Vuzix Blade into a live closed captioning device and converts spoken language into text on the display of the Blade. In the closed captioning example, the Zoi Meet app can be set with any one of 12 languages such as English to English translation, and the Vuzix Blade will translate and display verbal language to text in real time.

Ultra Optics
First of its kind, fully automated backside coating machine. This conveyor fed, robotically loaded machine, coupled with Ultra Optics’ new Ultra Care Program (UCP), delivers ophthalmic labs cost savings and improved yields.
Features: Incoming work is fed directly from the conveyor after the polisher. The robotic arm picks the lenses from the tray and places it into the processing portion of the machine. This automated system minimizes handling errors as it is repetitive, predictable and has been programmed to adapt to virtually all lens thicknesses. Advanced PLC controls scan the bar code on the work ticket to confirm if the job is to be coated or passed through. Additionally, codes in the LMS can be set to have the 44R simply wash the lenses without coating them. The large color touch screen makes it very simple to monitor all states of operation.
The lenses are processed while still on the surfacing block. This provides many advantages such as front side protection and the elimination of high-index lens warpage. Separating the heated wash and dry modules allows for a more thorough wash and decreases breakage. A longer drying cycle also improves the long-term stability of the coating in the reservoir.
Ultra Optics offers the Ultra Care Program, a technology agreement that supports the 44R. It features a simple one price per lens model that allows customers to accurately know your monthly expenditures for each job going through backside spin coating.

Johnson & Johnson Vision is unveiling the first extension of the Acuvue brand name beyond contact lenses with the launch of Acuvue RevitaLens Multi-Purpose Disinfecting Solution (MPDS). Acuvue RevitaLens MPDS delivers “exceptional disinfection and all-day comfort for reusable contact lens wearers,” according to Johnson & Johnson Vision. The solution features “dual-disinfecting formula” that is “gentle on the eyes but tough on harmful germs and bacteria,” the company says.
Features: The technology featured in Acuvue RevitaLens MPDS helps contact lens wearers avoid compromises that other contact lens solutions may require, the company says. It provides “exceptional, peroxide quality disinfection, but with the simplicity, comfort and convenience of an advanced multi-purpose solution, giving consumers a fresh lens feeling every morning and comfort that lasts all day.”
In product testing, 90 percent of contact lens wearers says it was effective in keeping their contact lenses feeling comfortable, and 94 percent found it effective in keeping their contacts clean.
Acuvue RevitaLens MPDS is compatible with all leading contact lenses including Acuvue brand contact lenses. Clinical studies show that the combination of Acuvue RevitaLens MPDS with Acuvue brand contact lenses resulted in all-day comfort, Johnson & Johnson Vision reports.
