Kenmark launches the Original Penguin Youth Eyewear collection, a new segment of the popular Original Penguin by Munsingwear eyewear line. Included are eight top-selling designs from the adult collection sized to fit boys 8 to 14, who want a more grown-up look. Staying true to the brand’s heritage, the frames feature throwback styling, modern fitting techniques and one-of-a-kind detailing, and are offered in zyl and metal/zyl combos in sizes ranging from 45 mm to 48 mm. Five of the designs are equipped with spring hinges. Colors consist of shades of black, blue, brown, cargo, gunmetal, khaki, olive and tortoise.


PHILOSOPHY: “When presented the option, many kids want to emulate the style of their older siblings and parents. I wanted to create frames addressing the lack of gown-up eyewear in today’s youth segment, and as a parent, frames I would seek out for my children to wear,” says Jason Wehlage, Kenmark product designer. Kenmark CEO Mike Cundiff adds: “The Original Penguin line has been hugely successful for us, and we think opticians and consumers alike will welcome these popular smaller styles into their product mix.”

MARKETING: A countercard with Original Penguin Youth imagery has been added to the Penguin merchandising materials, which include one-, two-, three- and six-place displays, an image holder and logo block.
