Most of us know him for his on-screen acting roles in film and TV, most famously as the heartthrob doctor on “Grey’s Anatomy” who had many viewers’ hearts racing. Off screen, Patrick Dempsey is no stranger to “racing” himself—what gets his heart racing is car racing. An avid motorsport enthusiast both as a Porsche race car driver and fan, Dempsey is also co-owner of a Porsche customer racing team. The actor’s long-standing relationship with the Porsche brand has recently earned him the role of eyewear ambassador for Porsche Design Eyewear.

Dempsey is the first brand ambassador for Porsche Design in its nearly 50 year brand history. A shared passion for performance, precision and an ambitious spirit that is always looking forward to the next challenge is at the heart of the partnership between the actor and the brand. “Porsche has always held a special place in my life. Whether as a race car driver or co-owner of a racing team, the brand radiates a special passion for me and the feeling to strive for top performance, which I always felt connected to,” says Dempsey. “I am very happy to be part of the lifestyle world of Porsche Design outside of motorsport and to represent Porsche Design Eyewear as a brand ambassador in 2021.”

Dempsey stars in Porsche Design’s 2021 campaign, wearing four styles from the brand’s new sunglass and optical collections. The campaign kicks off with Dempsey sporting sunglass style P’8688 (A) Liquid Titanium with VISION DRIVE Polarized XTR lens technology, featuring a high performance polarization filter and UV400 protection. The lenses are also equipped with an innovative contrast enhancer that absorbs blue light components, increasing overall color perception and contrast, and glare protection. The frame is constructed with 100 percent ultra-light titanium, with three-dimensionally shaped temples creating a stylish and bold yet minimalistic look.
