Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day continues to grow in popularity each year especially at SAFILO, celebrating its third year of bringing children to the workplace. A record-breaking 66 children joined the Safilo team at its North American headquarters in Secaucus, N.J., for a day of fun-filled organized activities including a lunchtime pizza party and a movie screening.

The day was intended to be more than just shadowing the adults with a hands-on interactive environment exposing the children to different careers within the company. Highlights included a tour of Safilo’s new corporate office and learning about each department’s responsibilities; understanding what the public relations team does and selecting a favorite celebrity to be sent a pair of eyewear; creating a budget with the accounting department; and playing interactive games with members of the customer service and human relations departments to learn about the importance of teamwork and Safilo’s various brands. The children also created their own eyewear storyboard after learning about the trends, colors and materials that inspire the product development department when designing frames and also created summer window designs and Safilo logos after learning about the importance of eye-catching logos and retail window displays.

“The enthusiasm for Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day continues to grow and is something that both the children and adults look forward to as confirmed by our record turnout this year. We are proud to participate in this global initiative that gives our children the opportunity to be inspired and to dream, as well as have a better understanding of what goes on at Safilo each day,” says Stefania DiPalma, director of human resources for Safilo North America.

There’s something special about accompanying parents to work that gives children a sense of ownership and responsibility. It’s truly inspiring to see how this campaign continues to grow each year, especially when companies in the eyewear community such as Safilo are playing an active role in encouraging children to dream big and think imaginatively about their future aspirations.
