PINELLAS PARK, Fla.—To make it easier for eyecare professionals to communicate their needs and concerns about managed vision care, Transitions Optical (TOI) has created “The Managed-Care Vision Care Communications Kit.”

The free kit includes examples of 20 letters eyecare professionals can customize for a variety of circumstances, such as requesting to be on a panel, diabetic retinopathy assistance compliance or encouraging patients to talk with their employer about their vision-care plan. The letters are targeted to managed vision care plans, primary-care physicians, employers, human resources personnel and patients, according to Transitions.

“Eyecare professionals must wear many new hats in the era of managed care,” says Tim Fortner, director of training and education for TOI. “The kit is a timesaving tool to help them focus and articulate their concerns.”

The handbook is based in large part on the work and research pioneered by TOI and the Transitions in Managed Vision Care Program TOI introduced in 1997.

The kit also includes template articles on managed-care issues eyecare professionals may submit to newspapers for guest columns or editorial pieces.

The kits are available free on the TOI Web site at www.transitions.com or by calling TOI customer relations at (800) 848-1506.
