Zimco Optics launches its 24-piece Oxygen Eyewear collection made from 100 percent Ultem, a plastic/beta memory material that’s part of the resin family of amorphous thermoplastic polyetherimide (PEI) materials. The material, which was approved by the FDA and the NSF, offers an abundance of characteristics such as ultra lightweight, durability and elasticity that allows the frames to bounce back to their original shape and endless color options. Because of the flexibility, frames provide a longer-lasting fit and require fewer adjustments. Available in a variety of shapes and styles such as a rounded rectangle and a traditional square, the collection also offers an assortment of appealing, contemporary colors.

PHILOSOPHY: “Ultem is a unique material and is changing the very nature of the eyewear industry,” says Zimco’s president Mitch Zimberg. “We’re proud to be a company that is always on the forefront of the next big thing. The Ultem material creates a new option for clients who prefer an acetate look with added comfort and durability.”
