Sàfilo Group and Jack Spade, the American
men’s accessories and apparel brand, introduce the launch collection of
Jack Spade men’s optical frames. A sunglass collection will be previewed
here in a subsequent issue. Jack Spade is inspired by the enduring
appeal of products that were designed with a purpose in mind, where
every detail is considered and nothing is superfluous. The Jack Spade
ophthalmic styles follow suit, creating an aesthetic in line with the
brand’s clothing and accessories. The eyewear constitutes a smartly
designed collection that offers inherent style and utilitarian
simplicity. Comprised of 13 masculine styles available in metal,
titanium, surgical steel and acetate, the frames include a range of
round and rectangular silhouettes. Eight styles offer flex hinges; two
of the frames are designed with an International Fit, with longer
nosepad arms.
PHILOSOPHY: “The
Jack Spade brand celebrates the design innovations of everyday objects
and incorporates intrinsic style and functional simplicity into its
clothing and accessories without taking itself too seriously. The
brand’s optical launch collection is no exception. Jack Spade’s
signature orange color—a symbol of brand authenticity—is evident
throughout the collection, as is the brand’s iconic architectural graph
paper pattern and airplane rivets, which can be found on the temple
tips,” says Glenn Rusk, commercial head of Sàfilo North America.
MARKETING:
Merchandising materials include one- and six-place displays, mirrors
and logo plaques. Each frame comes with an orange-colored hard clamshell
case and a cleaning cloth.

INSIGHT
Jack
Spade began in 1996 out of a warehouse in New York City. It grew out of
the idea that useful items could also be stylish. The first Jack Spade
bag was sold to a hardware store in 1997. Today Jack Spade has grown to
include clothing, small goods and accessories.
