Base Curve, a new independent division of Rem Eyewear, launches
Carolina Herrera Eyewear, a 26-style line of modern frames and sunglasses. Targeted to sophisticated women in their 20s to mid-50s, the collection employs exotic design elements—Swarovski crystals, mother-of-pearl inlays and laser treatments with signature patterns and animal-skin textures—drawing inspiration from various time periods and incorporating motifs from Art Nouveau and the ’70s. Each piece features a beveled inner-temple and signature temple design. The eyewear is handmade in Japan with Italian acetate in a 70-step process. Sunglasses come with a selection of solid, gradient and flash-mirror-coated CR-39 sun lenses.

Colors in Optics collaborates with Rocawear, a street savvy apparel brand most often associated with co-founder rapper Jay-Z, to launch an eyewear collection comprised of 18 men’s and women’s styles. Targeted to an age group of 25 and older, the frames include metals and plastics with both classic and urban-chic designs. Detailing consists of logos accented with Swarovski crystals, 18-carat gold embellishments and hand-crafted wood and bone temples. One style features a metal oversized butterfly silhouette with a floating lens and round logo medallions encrusted with crystals.

Eastern States Eyewear launches Thierry Mugler Eyewear, consisting of 11 sun and 17 ophthalmic styles. The line captures the cutting edge, yet feminine, spirit of the brand with styles constructed from monel and plastic materials. Accents include Swarovski crystals, laser detailing, the brand logo and the signature Mugler star. All sunglasses with a base curve of eight or less can be customized with prescription lenses.

Surf and shade
Match Eyewear joins forces with Mormaii, a company known in Latin America for its neoprene surf suits and other water-sport clothing and accessories, to create Mormaii USA and launch Mormaii USA Sunwear. Targeted to active men and women, the new line features designs that allude to speed—mixing daring futuristic elements such as bold wraps, shields and geometric styles in plastics, injection molds and metals. Frames and temples are specifically designed to hug the face for a secure fit. Colors range from an assortment of iridescent shades of aqua blue, cherry red and tangerine orange
to classic black, steel gray and tortoise shell in double- and triple-laminates, patterns and solid and translucent colorations. The lenses, which are de-centered, are available in mirrored, tinted and gradient colorations.
